As EcoCode network we call for a transformative shift in how the world monitors and manages biodiversity change. We argue that the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) must move beyond retrospective reporting and embrace predictive ecology as the foundation for adaptive, forward-looking decision-making.
The GBF needs to look forward, not just backward.We believe a new international program tocoordinate biodiversity research and modeling,which we label the World Biodiversity ResearchProgramme (WBRP), would go a long way towardthis aim.
